Food, please!

Cheri has done a really good job with teaching Jonathan to communicate through sign language. He has understood what the different signs mean for quite a while now. When we ask him if he is hungry and wants food, he'll get excited as his way of telling us yes.

Well, just this last week we were in Malta on vacation (stories saved for another post). We stayed in a hotel there and so we had to get ready before we went down to breakfast. Jonathan didn't like this so much and would get hungry. Towards the end of our stay, he went up to Cheri and held his hand to his mouth (the sign for food). Now when he wakes up, the first thing he does is sign for food.

He has also learned that Daddy is much more generous with sweets if he signs please. Yesterday we had the cheese out and he kept coming up to me wanting another slice. I would tell him "Say please." and he would rub his chest. It was really cool to see it finally click for him and to see him develop the motor skills to be able to do it. We will, of course, have video posted soon.
