This morning was absolutely wonderful.
For the first time in quite a while, I woke up at 6:30 with Jonathan and was awake! Early morning is my favorite time of day and due to lack of sleep and a constant state of fatigue I have dozed and slept through all of my mornings for months.
It was like coming out of a fog. I had energy and the world had color and everything seemed bright and cheery again - even though clouds covered the sky promising rain.
Good morning. Oh, what a blessing it was!
Well, just for a quick update. Jonathan crawled up his first step last Thursday, September 18. We were at the church to play the piano and he crawled up the step onto the small platform to get to me. He crawls around on my feet trying to figure out what my feet are doing. It makes pedaling difficult but it's fun to watch him explore.
It seems that all we do anymore is tell people how Jonathan is doing. Hopefully that will change soon as I do want to add the "Hobbies" section that I mentioned a while back. It's just that I'm too busy actually doing the hobbies!
On Tuesday, I gave Jonathan a bath. He has now discovered he can roll over in the tub too. It didn't take too long for him to figure out how to hold his head up when he rolled onto his stomach. At first, he just looked at the water and splashed a little using one hand at a time while the other held him up. After a while of that though, he turned over again. And again. And again. He was doing non-stop 360s going round and round on the slick surface of the tub. It was like a merry-go-round at a circus. How are you supposed to bath a rolling baby like that? It's hard.
It was wonderul to go back home and see all the family and some friends! We've missed everyone so much. But after about a month of running around and sleeping in other people's beds, it was also really nice to come back to where David, Jonathan and I can just be together with the three of us without all the running around and sleep in our own beds.
I am so thankful for our voip phone! It makes me feel like we're closer to family and friends then we really are.
This evening something spectacular happened. Before I continue, here is some background information: More and more I find myself singing. However, I don't know many songs and much of what I do know of other songs includes some melody and no more than a phrase or two. So, I just sing to sing. I make some noise without any words.
Little Jonathan just keeps on growing. At nearly three months of age, he is almost 16 pounds. He's grown out of his first round of clothes and is getting big in both length and weight. I think he's definitely got a Carlson look about him.
Watching our little Jonathan grow up is getting to be so fun! He keeps getting bigger and bigger and discovering new things every day.
He's discovered that he likes sucking on things, including but not limited to: daddy's finger, daddy's bicep while being held, his thumb, his whole hand, anything else that gets near the mouth. And he has got some strong suction!!
He's slept as much as 6.5 hours in a night. Yay! Though some nights he will still wake up every 2-3 hours, he's averaging around 4.5.
Wow. In five days our little Jonathan David is going to be a month old. It's hard to believe that so much time has flown by! But it certainly has been an adventure!
